Rainman Suite was created by the actor Jimmy Stewart in 1948 to promote his All-American views and score some sweet starlet action. A few months later, he befriended a homeless Mexican gardener named J.D. Salinger. The legends bonded immediately, watching YouTube videos and drinking margaritas for days on end. Eventually, Stewart asked Salinger to join him in The Suite. His first post was a running diary about a trip to New York, which became the basis for
Catcher in the Rye.
At the 1951 NFL Championship Game between the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams, Stewart and Salinger discovered the original Dayyyyyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuuuum Girl, Jane Fonda. When both dudes fell for the 14-year-old, it nearly tore their friendship and The Suite apart. The future
Barbarella was shared betwixt the two for six months but ultimately chose Stewart and went to stay with him as a live-in babysitter to his children Michael, Ronald, Judy, and Kelly. Salinger was devastated and moved to the backwoods of Calgary, Alberta, where he continued to run The Suite until his death in 2010. In that time, he recruited a cavalcade of star-studded contributors including John Cougar Mellencamp, Bob Uecker, Nate Dogg, Stephen Hawking, Ernie Hudson, Keith Stone, and Andrew Dice Clay, and amassed accolades and awards as far as the eye can see. The tradition continues up to this very moment.
