New York Magazine compiled a list of the seven types of John Sterling home run calls. It's hilarious. My personal favorite is the classic "Bernie goes boom." Some of these calls are a bit ridiculous, though. "Sir Lancelot rides to the rescue! C'est lui! C'est lui!" is a bit of a stretch. I usually don't take announcers too seriously. As long as they convey the pertinent info of the game, it's fine if they want to spice it up to a certain extent. Sterling has his haters but he's a novelty, and while a bit annoying at times, it's another part of the Yankees that makes the franchise special. And hearing "Yankees win, thhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees win" never gets old.
